Emergency Root Canal Treatment

Emergency root canal treatment may be necessary due to inflammation originating in the dental pulp In cases of very severe, throbbing toothache that does not respond to medication and disturbs sleep, which may be accompanied by a fever and, in some cases, facial swelling.

In addition to inflammation Various dental injuries may also be a cause emergency care, such as for tooth fractures that affect the pulp. In such cases, every minute counts for the tooth’s future; in some cases, even root canal treatment can be avoided through a procedure known as vital therapy.

In urgent cases We can schedule a consultation appointment for that very day, so that we can relieve our patients' symptoms as quickly as possible and provide them with the most appropriate care.

Dental Consultation

The first visit to the clinic always consists of an assessment and consultation, followed by It can be combined with a dental hygiene treatment.

Based on a questionnaire to be completed We will assess your overall health, so that we can provide you with personalized service.

This is a A dental examination will follow, which begins with a conversation in the dentist's chair about the patient's oral hygiene habits and other habits that affect their teeth. The conversation is followed by the This is followed by an examination of the teeth and oral mucosa.

After that We perform the necessary diagnostic imaging tests. Taking RTG and 3D CBCT images is essential for making an accurate diagnosis and carrying out successful treatment.

After analyzing the imaging data, the following takes place: to develop a detailed treatment plan.

Professional cleaning (tartar removal) and oral hygiene counseling

During a dental cleaning performed by a dentist, each patient receives personalized care We will examine your oral health, which we make visible to them using a plaque-disclosing solution, so they can discuss with the dentist where and how they can improve their oral hygiene habits and what tools they need to do so.

In addition to ultrasonic scaling (tartar removal), we also clean the teeth using manual cleaning instruments, both above and below the gums.

It is also possible to supplement the cleaning process with a special sandblasting treatment, which effectively removes stains from the teeth and is especially recommended for patients with sensitive tooth necks.

During cleaning, there is always a A general checkup and a discussion of any additional dental procedures.

Everyone should have their teeth cleaned by a dentist at least once every six months, which is the easiest way to prevent diseases affecting the teeth and oral mucosa.

Cosmetic fillers, neck fillers

We recommend fillings to treat minor cavities and mild discoloration., so that we can preserve as much healthy tooth structure as possible, since in this case we remove only the infected, decayed tooth structure.

For front teeth in the aesthetic zone, we select composite filling shades from a wide color palette that best match the patient’s natural teeth in both color and translucency to achieve a perfect overall appearance.

For back teeth, we use a special tooth-colored glass ionomer cement filling material, which—unlike composite fillings—is not sensitive to moisture and does not shrink when cured, thus preventing marginal gaps and secondary caries. In addition, it helps prevent secondary caries through continuous fluoride release.

We also treat wedge-shaped wear surfaces and indentations that have formed on the cervical surfaces of the teeth with aesthetic fillings, thereby restoring the teeth's proper appearance and eliminating cervical sensitivity. In most cases, there is no need to prepare the tooth; we simply rebuild the missing portion of the tooth using filling materials.

Dental Prosthetics

In cases of caries affecting multiple tooth surfaces, replacement of previous large-surface and adjacent fillings, and protection of root-canal-treated teeth We recommend having dental prostheses made, which are fabricated by technicians in a dental laboratory.

Dental technicians work on restorations They can create a perfect marginal seal and contact point with the adjacent teeth, since they work off the mouth, using impressions, under laboratory conditions (they have a clear view of the model from every angle, there is no saliva, and they also use computer-aided design).

When it comes to dental restorations, whenever possible, We take digital fingerprints. We use a scanner to ”capture images” of the teeth, making the treatment faster and more comfortable. This technique eliminates the need for impression material that hardens in the mouth and for a tray that must be placed in the mouth—both of which cause nausea for many people. Digital technology allows for more accurate impressions and is much faster; furthermore, it produces a color 3D model that can be immediately viewed by the patient. During the procedure, the digital scanner also plays soothing, soft music, making the treatment a truly pleasant experience.

Restorations (inlays, onlays)

The insert is such that Restoration that replaces a larger tooth surface area, which, unlike fillers, is already in a solid state when it enters the mouth. It is much more durable and precise than standard gaskets, since a dental technician fabricates it outside the mouth based on an impression. Of all types of dental restorations, this one requires the least amount of tooth structure to be removed.

The treatment consists of two sessions. During the first visit, the dentist removes the decayed tooth structure and any old fillings, prepares the area in the tooth for the inlay, takes an impression, and places a temporary inlay in the tooth. The second appointment takes place about one week later, at which time the dentist tries in the inlay prepared by the dental technician, checks it, and cements it into the tooth with a permanent adhesive.

For teeth that have undergone root canal treatment, an onlay can be made if not much tooth structure had to be removed during the procedure. It differs from an inlay in that it covers every corner of the tooth, protecting it from fractures.

We basically make inserts from two types of materials:

  • The aesthetic inlay is tooth-colored and blends seamlessly with the tooth structure, and with good oral hygiene, it has a lifespan of about 10–15 years.
  • The other option is gold, which has antibacterial properties, so it does not cause cavities; as a result, with good oral hygiene, it can remain in the tooth for decades. During preparation, it requires the removal of less tooth structure than aesthetic inlays. Its disadvantage is its golden-yellow color.

Crowns

We make a crown when there is little healthy tooth structure remaining or the enamel surface is cracked (for example, old amalgam fillings cause small cracks in the tooth that resemble those on Greek vases), More severe discoloration must be corrected for aesthetic reasons, or if we want to protect a root-canal-treated tooth from fracture.

The crowns cover the prepared tooth stump like caps.

The treatment is similar to that for inserts they use the service twice. During the first visit, the dentist prepares the tooth for the crown, takes an impression, and places a temporary crown. The second appointment takes place one week later, during which time the final restoration is completed at the dental laboratory. The dentist thoroughly checks the quality of the restoration and cements it onto the tooth using permanent adhesive.

Crowns can be made of:

  • Metal-ceramic: This is the type of restoration with the longest history, in which an aesthetic veneer made of ceramic is built over a metal framework. It is recommended for posterior teeth because the edge of the metal framework shows through as a gray line at the gum line. Due to the differing physical properties of ceramic and metal, the aesthetic veneer may chip over time; furthermore, because of the possibilities offered by more modern materials, this type of crown is rarely used.
  • Hybrid ceramic: A composite material consisting of 80% ceramic and 20% resin; it is metal-free. It offers high aesthetic value, and due to its low plastic content, it places less occlusal load on the prepared tooth, making it the perfect solution for the final crown restoration of root-canal-treated teeth.
  • Zircon: This type of material offers a perfect aesthetic result, making it particularly advantageous for the front teeth; it is indistinguishable from natural teeth. Another advantage is that the gums can adhere to zirconia just as they do to natural teeth, ensuring the most precise fit and ease of cleaning, even for restorations that extend below the gum line.
  • Pressed Ceramics: A metal-free material designed to restore front teeth while ensuring the most natural-looking appearance possible; it is also suitable for use on front teeth where the highest aesthetic standards are required.
  • Long-term plastic temporary crown: We use this type of material on root-canaled teeth with weakened structures immediately after the root canal treatment is completed, while we wait for the tooth to heal. The soft plastic places less stress on the periodontium of the root-canaled tooth, allowing it to heal undisturbed. It can be replaced with a more durable and more expensive permanent crown no sooner than six months later.
  • Zirconia crown on an implant: The crown structure for our implant-supported dental restorations is made of zirconia.

Héjak

In cases where the Smile correction in the front teeth area for aesthetic reasons (e.g., discoloration, misalignment, minor decay, or edge wear) is needed And to achieve this while sacrificing as little tooth structure as possible, we create a veneer. These restorations are made from highly aesthetic materials (zirconia or pressable ceramic), which require the removal of only a very thin layer of natural tooth structure, making them the most conservative form of aesthetic correction.

Smile Design

For front teeth with high aesthetic requirements, when placing a crown or veneer, it is also possible to do so without prior preparation so that the patient can try out in his or her own mouth what the restoration will feel like.

At times like this We use a digital scanner to create a 3D scan of the teeth, and we also take a photo of your smile. Using the 3D digital model, with the assistance of a dental technician We design the patient's future dentures (the shape, color, and alignment of the teeth), and then based on the computer-generated design A printed sample made of plastic is being produced. Using this, we create a temporary dental restoration in the office, which We attach it to the patient's dentures using temporary adhesive, so even before any preparation that involves tooth structure loss You can see what the final set of teeth will look like. If the patient is satisfied with the proposed replacements, the tooth is prepared and a final restoration matching the model is fabricated.

Microscopic Diagnostics

In cases where we are planning a dental restoration for a tooth that did not undergo root canal treatment at our practice, We need to check the quality of the root ball, to ensure that the restoration is placed on a healthy tooth.

We will examine this under a microscope, in a completely isolated environment.

If the root filling is clean and there are no signs of infection, we can take an impression for the planned dental restoration.

In many cases, however, we find that the previous root filling has become infected; in such cases, the root filling material—which is normally a nice salmon-pink color—turns brownish or even blackish. In such cases, we must postpone the fabrication of the dental restoration and perform root canal treatment on the tooth again; this is called a revision.

Retreatment (revision) of a failed root canal treatment; treatment of focal infection

Root canal treatment will be successful if, if our greatest enemies— from bacteria – We can clean the tooth, as well as performing a root filling and crown restoration that prevents pathogens from continuing to multiply and re-entering the tooth. If, for any reason, this cannot be ensured, the bacteria will reinfect the tooth and, acting as a source of infection, may spread through the bloodstream.

Failed Root Canal Treatment is classified as a dental focus, which It can be the source of numerous chronic diseases. Examples include various skin diseases, hair loss, premature birth, joint inflammation, and inflammation affecting internal organs. Bacteria can even colonize the heart valves. Focal infections are also called “silent enemies” because they are chronic processes that are generally mild or asymptomatic. In such cases, the tooth does not hurt; instead, there is some other systemic symptom.

Failure of Root Canal Treatment Can be diagnosed using 3D CBCT imaging. In addition to radiographic findings, the affected tooth may be sensitive to tapping and biting, and a pustule-like, exudative swelling may appear on the gum.

There may be several reasons behind a failed root canal treatment, such as difficulties arising from the tooth’s unique anatomy (a canal with multiple bends, an unexplored accessory canal, broom-like branching of the canal at the root apex)—which cannot be seen without a dental microscope—short root filling, overfilling, a broken instrument, perforation, or an inadequate crown restoration.

A problematic tooth can be treated with a root canal retreatment, also known as a revision. In such cases, we remove the old root filling—which has been infected by bacteria—from the tooth, locate any untreated canals, correct any defects, then thoroughly clean the root canals and ensure an airtight seal using a special root-filling technique (vertical condensation).

Avoiding Root Canal Treatment, Vital Therapy

Root canal treatment is an irreversible procedure during which the tooth loses its vitality, leading to a number of negative consequences. A non-vital tooth dries out, changes color, and loses its ability to defend itself against infection and its osmotic reflex, making it more susceptible to fractures and bacterial infections, which can ultimately lead to tooth loss. A vital tooth is always better than a root-canal-treated tooth.

We always strive to preserve the tooth for as long as possible.

In cases of teeth with very deep cavities but that are still viable, as well as in cases of accident-damaged teeth where the pulp is affected, root canal treatment can be avoided by using special regenerative materials.

If the depth of the cavity is very close to the dental pulp but has not yet exposed it, we can promote the regeneration of the tooth’s hard tissues using a filling with a high mineral content.

In cases involving pulp exposure, we cover the pulp cavity with MTA (Mineral Trioxide Aggregate) and seal the tooth with a temporary filling. MTA is a special bioactive cement that stimulates cells to regenerate and produce hard tissue.

We perform our vital therapies under conditions of complete isolation and within the framework of microscopic diagnostics, ...to ensure that no pathogens can reach the dental pulp if it is exposed and to maintain its sterility. Thanks to the microscope’s magnification, we remove only as much tooth structure as is actually infected, allowing us to preserve more of the natural tooth structure. Magnification is also advantageous because, once the pulp chamber is exposed, we can make an accurate diagnosis of its condition.

Root-apex resection (root-apex amputation)

A root-apex resection is an oral surgical procedure in which the The tip of the tooth root will be removed, and then we seal the remaining portion with a special regenerative material called MTA.

This is necessary when inflammation around the root tip persists even after a root canal treatment that was performed properly in every respect, as confirmed by the 3D CBCT scan.

The last option to avoid tooth extraction is apicoectomy. In this procedure, the brush-like canal system located at the tip of the tooth root—which caused the inflammation to persist—is removed.

We perform our procedures in collaboration with an oral surgeon, using microscopic magnification.

Pediatric Dentistry

At our clinic, in particular We believe it is important for a visit to the dentist to be a positive experience right from the very first visit, since it determines the state of our oral health for the rest of our lives.

We recommend regular dental checkups starting as soon as the first baby teeth appear, so not only can dental problems be prevented, but Children develop a positive attitude toward the clinic environment and they do not view dental procedures with fear.

At our place The first visit is an introductory consultation, during which we’ll have fun learning about the equipment and tools in a dentist’s office, then we’ll color the sheet together and brush our teeth thoroughly.

We still perform fissure sealing on newly erupted permanent teeth, which helps prevent early decay of complex chewing surfaces that are prone to cavities.

Our dental office also performs root canal treatments on baby teeth, which can help avoid a tooth extraction. Of course, this is also painless.

We always pay close attention to how we communicate with children and ensure that they view dental procedures as a positive experience. For example, we don’t say „injection” or „shot”; instead, we use phrases like “we blow up a balloon,” “we numb it,” or “we put the little tooth to sleep.” We don’t drill the tooth—we just erase the tooth fairies. We have a magic lamp and a certificate of bravery.

Dental Injuries, Traumas

Unfortunately, various sports injuries, traffic accidents, or even a simple slip can have serious consequences for our teeth, and in the worst-case scenario, they can even lead to tooth loss.

In accidents, the upper incisors—which are the most significant from an aesthetic standpoint—are most commonly affected; therefore, providing them with appropriate care is of particular importance.

Dental injuries most commonly occur in children and young adults, when the permanent teeth have not yet fully erupted, so Prompt dental treatment determines the tooth's further development and fate.

In the simplest case, damage to the teeth affects only the enamel, or possibly the second layer of the tooth—the dentin. In such cases We are preparing a meal, in several different shades and with varying light transmission properties We rebuild the missing part of the tooth using a composite filling material, to restore the tooth's original appearance and function. In cases involving more extensive tooth structure loss, We restore the tooth using a crown or simply the enamel covering the surface of the tooth facing the lip..

We refer to cases in which the fracture also affects the dental pulp as “complicated trauma.” In such cases, our primary goal is to save the tooth through what is known as vital therapy. The success of this treatment is largely determined by the time that elapses between the accident and the start of treatment, so You should see a dentist within hours of the trauma. Vital therapy is performed under strict isolation and under microscopic magnification, allowing us to assess the condition of the damaged dental pulp. After thorough disinfection, we cover the pulp wound with a special regenerative material that does not cause tooth discoloration, and then seal it with a temporary filling.

If it is no longer possible to save the tooth (e.g., several days or weeks have passed between the injury and treatment), a root canal must be performed to preserve the tooth.

We stabilize teeth that have become loose in an accident using splints. In such cases, we connect the teeth to one another using metal wire bonded to their surfaces facing the oral cavity, in order to reduce the forces acting on each individual tooth.

In the event of an accident, a tooth may be knocked out of its socket. Even in such cases, it is still possible to save the tooth and reinsert it into the socket by ensuring the proper conditions and seeking immediate dental care. Our office offers a small container called the „SOS Zahnbox,” which contains a nutrient solution that allows the dislodged tooth or tooth fragment to be stored in a suitable, clean environment until you see a dentist, significantly increasing the chances of successful reimplantation.

Skiing

Teeth may become loose as a result of periodontal disease affecting the supporting structures of the teeth and injuries to the teeth, in which case we use skiing to help them regain their stability.

Using a metal wire bonded to the oral surface of the teeth with composite material, the loose teeth can be secured into a single unit, so that forces acting from different directions do not affect the loose teeth individually, but are distributed among the teeth held together as a unit, thereby reducing the impact on each tooth and the supporting structure of the teeth.

Tooth Extraction

We strive to save every tooth, but if, unfortunately, that is no longer an option, then, as a last resort, tooth extraction is the solution.

It usually doesn't get enough attention, but It is especially important to have wisdom teeth that are growing in the wrong place or at an angle removed as soon as possible. The main problem with these teeth is that they cannot erupt properly, yet they continue to push forward, and as a result, they can cause necrosis, inflammation, and resorption of the tooth number 7 located in front of them. In many cases, even root canal treatment cannot save this tooth, and it must be extracted. Wisdom teeth that cause such problems are best identified using imaging techniques (X-rays, 3D CBCT).

The removal of wisdom teeth that have erupted into the mouth is recommended even if there is no opposing tooth. During chewing, the upper and lower teeth that come into contact with each other clean each other’s chewing surfaces, thereby preventing cavities in the grooves of the chewing surfaces; so the fissures on teeth that lack an opposing pair become highly susceptible to tooth decay.
